    Local Bar Associations Receive Awards from the Pennsylvania Bar Association

    HARRISBURG (Feb. 23, 2018) — The Pennsylvania Bar Association honored 23 county bar associations with County Bar Recognition Awards during the 52nd Annual Seminar of the Conference of County Bar Leaders, Feb. 22 – 24, at the Lancaster Marriott at Penn Square, Lancaster. The awards, which are non-competitive in nature, annually recognize bar associations throughout Pennsylvania for projects that improve the legal profession, justice system and community.

    “It’s an inspiration to see lawyers bettering communities where they live and work, and it is important to recognize this commitment to service,” said Sharon R. López, PBA president. “I commend the county bar associations and the many volunteers needed to make these programs a success.”

    The following county bar associations received awards for notable projects and programs:

    Allegheny County Bar Association: Coffee with Coffey

    Chester County Bar Association: Learning On Line (LOL) and Member Appreciation Month

    Cumberland County Bar Association: The 14th Amendment: Transforming American Democracy and 2017 Adopt-A-Family

    Dauphin County Bar Association: Pro Bono Driver’s License Restoration Intake Clinic

    Delaware County Bar Association: YLS Fundraiser for Drexel Neumann Academy and Women in the Law Committee

    The Conference of County Bar Leaders, whose membership includes leaders from county bar associations throughout the state and from the Pennsylvania Bar Association, organizes a yearly educational conference focusing on the exchange of innovative bar association projects and ideas, and on the development of mutually-beneficial relationships among bar leaders that improve the legal profession. 

    Founded in 1895, the Pennsylvania Bar Association strives to promote justice, professional excellence and respect for the law; improve public understanding of the legal system; facilitate access to legal services; and serve the 26,000 lawyers who are members of the association.
